知多郡横須賀町（現東海市）の伝統野菜です。明治時代にフランスの品種ブラン･アチーフ･ド･パリの改良種で、球は白く、たいらで、尻部がくぼんでいるのが特徴です。育苗箱に種をまいて晩秋に畑に定植します。収穫までは約8か月です。辛味が非常に少なく、みずみずしいのでサラダ、和え物に特におすすめです。
